The Mouth Aspirators (Models 412 and 612) are used for aspirating
mosquitoes and sandflies in the lab and field. The Model 612
includes a 0.3-micron HEPA filter with screen to stop insect
particles from entering the mouth.
The Standard Mouth Aspirator Model 412
features a 12 inch long
tube made of 0.5" OD
polycarbonate plastic which is much stronger than acrylic
and less fragile than glass. The tubing is made of natural
latex rubber and comes with a polycarbonate mouthpiece.
The screen at the base of the 12 inch tube collects
the insects and is placed sufficiently forward on the tubing
so you can easily see what has been
collected. The
screen is supported by a
machined insert which allows the screen to be replaceable.
Mouth Aspirator with HEPA Filter (Model
612)
The
Model 612 is identical with the Model 412 above with
the exception of the 0.3-micron HEPA filter attached
via a threaded brass insert on the filter to the base
of the 12 inch long tube. The HEPA filter is assembled
with spin welding and without solvents and is suitable
for medical applications.
The screen forward of
the HEPA filter stops the insects from entering
the filter. The screen is sufficiently
forward of the filter so you can easily see what
has been collected.
